what a nice post! sounds like you had a lot of good food while in Hong Kong. It's nice to visit with family too!

I am getting so jealous (and hungry!) reading this. I've been to HK a couple of times but have never known where to go for amazing food. I feel like I need to go back now, to redeem my culinary failures (and visit the places you're writing about). Thanks for the tour, I am enjoying it and taking notes. Any chance your parents can come along and order for me on my next visit?:-)

Wow Anita, I can imagine the journey just by reading your post! Great tour as Tea mentioned.. And shopping? Did you shop as well ?;-)

wish I could taste that mango dessert! But frog's fat? no thanks, hehee...
Baked goods in Hongkong hadn't impressed me much... but things always change... now I'm looking forward to your next post :)

hi anita, sounds like you're having a terrific time catching up on all the hk eats you've missed! lovely post...

i just got back from hongkong. let me tell you about my mango madness. i stayed in MONGKOK and that place is at EVERYCORNER, arounf oue hotel, we tried just about every combination, birds nest w/those white glutenous rice balls with a scoop of mango ice cream in a bowl of mango pudding, was my favorite.
and the mango pudding with them different fruit balls was just amazing. yummmmy

Kat,
Family and food together is definitely one of the best things in the world...especially in Hong Kong!

Tea,
Just let me know when you are going...my parents are great tour guides:)

Bea,
Shopping wise I didn't do as much damage as previous trips - I only had to get one new suitcase to fit everything in to get home:)

Gattina,
When snow frog is mixed in with other flavors, you can't really taste it - it's more of a texture. But it is the sort of thing you try not to think about as you're eating it!

J,
Thank you! I just read your post on Rome - that sounded so lovely and romantic!

Ben,
They are definitely crazy for mangoes in HK. Glad you got to indulge!

LOVE this place. If you have a chance to be in Southern California there is another location on West Valley Blvd. in San Gabriel (Los Angeles area) as Hui San Lau Desserts. The menu is not as extensive as the one in Hong Kong though.

The place definitely rocks..
Their desserts just blew me away and i liked their mango dessert very much... arghhhhh, how nice if they have a branch in penang....

I had it during my trip to HK last month and i'm still missing it... Hui Lau Shan!!
